Operating a large mine the size of Peñasquito requires experienced contractors that have been working in the mining industry for years and that count on resources and technology to deliver in a timely and safe way all the support the core business of mining requires.
These contractors have their own demands and needs - their own supply chain to meet these needs - and there is where there may be space for locals as well: provision of raw materials, support services such as lodging, food, production of uniforms, office materials, personal protection equipment, you name it!
It is important to emphasize that Peñasquito is not liable for any commercial agreement between both parties, that will follow the commercial rules and procedures of each large contractor.
